Connection of meeting in person

The Step Up Network Committee

On Saturday, members of our network committee (Ben, Adam, Utha, Nikki and Elaine) met to set our strategy moving forward as a network, taking into account the views of our other network leaders (Christine, Hayder, Tom and Rachael).

Adam and Utha travelled up from London and joined us for breakfast beforehand.

After the mingling and the introductions, we reflected on our launch event and where we are at as a network. The majority of the structure of our day was based around a book, Traction by Gino Wickman. We explore what our values should be, what ideas we had as a network and what our community had feedback, and then we formulated this into a three year plan.

We also spent some time deciding what our ‘ways of working’ should be as a network committee and how we want to develop our relationships as a team.

We then finalised our day by looking at our events and our immediate next steps following the induction.

One thing we agreed on is that regardless of how our team and network grows, we will meet annually as a network committee for a strategy day (along with half termly virtual meetings). We realised the importance of meeting in-person, the connection, the challenge, the discussion, the laughs and the developing relationships. It also affirmed for us, how important it is to ensure we run our face-to-face events to enable connections within our community.

We will be shortly sharing with you all in the form of a blog our strategy for the 2023/24 academic year. If you are interested in joining our network committee then do get in touch. If you would like to find out more about the network committee then do check out the ‘Our Volunteers’ page.
